CASE
Maersk
Maritime Officer
yourself in the lead role in training as officer at Maersk.
THE SOLUTION
We used Facebook Connect to retrieve user names and photos. To get the images to be a natural part of the video, we programmed colour grading filters and effects in ActionScript.
To generate tracking data into Flash, we used Mocha and AfterEffects. As part of this process, we used Distort image with ActionScript frame by frame, so that the tracking was completely accurate.
OUR ROLE
Our role was to integrate the applicants in a recruitment video by using the names and photos from their Facebook profiles. The video should be shared with friends, family and network.
THE CHALLENGE
We are experienced in working with tracking, but the challenge this time was to get it to work with multiple images at once. The style of the video is dynamic and alive. The camera sits on the user’s helmet, so the viewpoint is from the user’s perspective. The video includes picture frames, where pictures of the main character facebook profile is shown.
BEHIND THE MAERSK PROJECT
BEHIND THE SCENES

BRIEFING
Gottlieb & Co. had the task of creating a recruitment video for training officers at Maersk. The video shows an meritime officers life and career path in education up to becoming an officer.

PURPOSE OF THE TASK
The aim was to create visibility for the programme through social media. They wanted to make more direct contact with potential candidates, which is why the video needed to contain a personal name and photograph retrieved from Facebook.
OUR WORK
We created and designed the storyboard, animation and sound. We also designed the the interaction design and the design of the interface, including navigation, preloader and tracking. We are used to dealing with tracking, but the challenge this time was to get it to work with multiple images at once.
Our time frame was six weeks (one week for R&D and five weeks for production), so we were also challenged in terms of the time available. The size of the assignment required us to recruit external developers from our network.
